I'm not so sure there's anything to "get"

Scott - If you aren't enough without it, you'll never be enough with it.

The message of that particular sermon was about "making waves", meaning, reaching out to those around us. The "wave" was just something our Pastor thought would be fun.

Jeremy - I believe virtually everything I read.

He was wrong.

Jeremy hasn't been to Church since he made us sit through a full Catholic Mass.
Fun in church is anything that gets you involved in more than a listening mode.

I see this being a long and interesting thread. I don't go to church. I suppose I consider myself a Christian by definition, and was raised Lutheran. However, I don't feel that I need to unify in any way shape or form to get to the ultimate goal.
On the other hand, I often feel I believe just in case. I mean what if I went totally non-prophet and it turns out God was right? This in mind, I have always taken the safe approach. That's the cool thing about God though, just one main rule.
When I can go to church and get money, instead of the reverse, give me a call.

I really don't think teasing Scott about linking to the most boring video on the internet is going to turn into a religious debate.

What's silly about challenging the pressure to donate to organized religion, especially in church?

Well, you don't HAVE to give money to the church, unless you're a Scientologist, in which case you'd already have more money than sense anyway.

The Bible says to give your tithing. I think that = 10% your pretax income, including any money earned before pretax deductions such as 401k and insurances, alimony, etc.

Well, I guess I can't really speak for what kind of pressure may have been placed on you, but in my experience churches would rather have me go to church and not give any money than to not go to church at all. I suppose it varies greatly.

Well, Churches have bills to pay too.
Exactly where in the bible do they get into 401k's?

Agreed, I lol'd
Edit: Was the "hearts" assuming there will be a valentines day theme. Cause I don't think there will be, unless someone wants to make a header graphic.
