Granted it's fairly low risk, but I'm not so sure I like the idea of the schools giving out the pill either, though I guess this person is a nurse practitioner.

Seriously though, that's pretty messed up.

I'm still at the beginning of the article but I'm claiming it's poorly done already. Why?
Check out the unfortunate wording which could lead to the wrong assumption:

Look how far we've come, in the pop-culture-influencing-teen-culture argument.
Used to be Marilyn Manson made teens be violent.
Now, Ellen Page is encouraging young girls to get knocked up

Also, a quote from the chairman of the school board in Gloucester

"Some kids went in for multiple pregnancy tests and were disappointed when it came out negative and when it was positive they were pleased as punch."

Well, someone has to be to blame, right? It's certainly not shoddy parenting.

In my opinion, the movie Juno (which was pretty good) is a movie about a young girl actually taking responsibility for her pregnancy instead of just terminating the pregnancy. I did not see it as glamorizing teen pregnancy. I suppose just putting it in a movie for any reason could be taken as a glamorization, but that's not how I saw it.

Now now Scott, don't try and be logical about it. Both of these movies depicted unwed women getting pregnant without depicting their horrible demises, therefor glamorizing it.

Anyone who would say that "Knocked Up" "glamorized" pregnancy hasn't seen "Knocked Up."

I never saw knocked up.

The Gloucester, MA PR machine finally kicks:

GLOUCESTER, Mass. (AP) -- The mayor of Gloucester (GLAH'-stur), Massachusetts says there is no evidence a group of girls at the city's high school made a pact to become pregnant.
After a closed-door meeting with city, school and health leaders, Mayor Carolyn Kirk said there was no independent confirmation of any plan among the teens to get pregnant and raise their babies together.
The principal who first told Time magazine of such a pact was not invited to the meeting.
Kirk says Joseph Sullivan is now "foggy in his memory" as to how he first heard the information.
This year, 17 girls have become pregnant, four times the typical number of Gloucester High students who become pregnant.
