After winning your first 6 games, you only needed to win 4 out of the next 10 games last year. You won 3. Good luck with all that.

Ok first, let's just all agree that Sarah's use of the word "always" was improper.
Second, Grady Jackson will not singlehandedly stop the Vikings offense. Not even the run. And don't tell me that they've done so well since he came back. They've improved, but they're still not good. Both opposing teams averaged over 4 yards per carry since he's back. And neither team (Dallas, Washington) has the balanced attack like the Vikings.
Also, I wanted to pick St. Louis, but changed it. I think Alexander will be the difference in the game. Just give him the ball, Mike.

without Moss, the vikings passed for only 154 yards against the leagues WORST pass defense last week. Against the Giants, they got 231 yards through the air, which is good, but well below their average per game, and the 5.6 yards per pass average isn't exactly too impressive. 3 weeks ago against the Titans the Vikes only passed for 161 yards, again without moss for most of the game, and another low yards per throw number. Without moss, the Vikings are playing well below their average for the games when they do have moss. I know that it's packers-vikings and stats don't matter when you're talking rivalry, but it appears that even against modest defenses the last 2 to 3 weeks, the Vikings offense has stumbled. Things should be no different this weekend.

Maybe the Vikes and Colts always have bad pass defenses because they consistantly put a bajillion points on the board and teams play catch up. (Like Vinnies 50+ pass attampts in week one)

Remember when I mentioned the scheduling screw job last week?
Its only the fifth time in NFL history that a home team, coming off a bye, will host a road team that played the previous Monday night. Add that to the fact that you guys got us off your bye last year and I cry BS on you NFL!
The Vikes are second in passing and 10th (better than the packers) in Rushing.
Since Moss got hurt the Vikes have averaged 322 yards a game. Which is better than like half the league's average per game. So where their pass offense has lacked the running game has picked up. That's called balance.
I'm not expecting a win Sunday, but it's not out of the question either. The ball is about 98% in Green Bay's court.

Since the game is in Green Bay, the ball will actually be 100% in their "court". Ha ha, giggle giggle.
How can the ball be 98% in Green Bay's court? How can you keep saying (not in these exact words, but still) that it would be such a big upset if the Vikings win? You just gave statistics that would say the Vikings have a very good chance of winning. And they have the better record. And what happened to any given Sunday? Or is it any given Sunday except when the Vikings play the Packers after the Vikings had a Monday night game and the Packers had a bye and Randy Moss is hurt? You're a flip-flopper.

i'm also confused, I think the Packers will win, but you posted stats about how the vikings offense is better passing and rushing, yet it's like 10 to 1 odds in favor of the Packers? I'm curious why you feel that way. Oh yeah, it's because the Randy Moss "myth" isn't a myth so much as it is a fact.

Jon - Nutcan.com's kitten expert

I'll say it.
I expect the Vikings to win. I think we're a better team than the Packers even without Moss. I expect Minnesota to have about 175 yards rushing.
I think Coke is better than Pepsi and am confident that Letterman is far superior to any late night host this side of Johnny Carson.

I posted those stats because you posted stats questioning Jon's balance comment.
Alot of the Packer players thought that the Vikings were playing mind games and Moss was really going to start. I don't know why Tice made the announcement he's officially out so early.
I'm not quite sure what the "Randy Moss 'myth'" is so I can't comment on that.

wait, jeremy posted stats that say since moss has been hurt, the Vikings offensive production has fallen to about 15th in the league, and apparently that's supposed to be a positive thing? The Vikings' rushing yards per game is only slightly higher since moss has gotten hurt as the rest of the season, right around 130 yards per game in the last 3 games. The running game hasn't really gone anywhere. It's still good (statistically better than the Packers), but it hasn't done anything special since Moss' injury. Also, the Packers and Vikings have identical offensive balance. Each team has passing to rushing at 70%-30%. The Vikings have 61 more rushing yards than the Packers and like 110 yards more passing than the Packers; because these numbers a pretty close, I'd say this ratio is a pretty good comparison.

Jeremy - I hate our freedoms
11/12/2004 @ 11:25:49 AM
If your worst games without your best player are still better than most of the league I'll call that a positive.

Cory
11/12/2004 @ 11:51:12 PM
(Note: Considering the importance of Sunday's Minnesota-Green Bay game, it's either tough luck or unfair scheduling that the Packers are coming off a bye week, giving them two weeks to prepare for this game, while the Vikings must travel to Green Bay after playing in Indianapolis on Monday night. Not an easy task for Minnesota.)

Well he wasn't holding the ball with his right arm or feet, so it had to be in the arm that clearly broke the plane. For the Badgers this seems to be like one of those games where like if you're playing a video game and the computer just decides you are not winning, I mean the was a 5 down goalline stand.

This game blows.
I've stuck up for Stocco all year when people said he sucked, I said he'll be alright, he'll get better, he's got good receivers to throw to. I guess I was wrong, at least on half of that. I still think they have decent receivers, but apparantly the only guy Stocco will even consider throwing to is Daniels. This has been one of the worst QB performances ever. Suck, suck, and suck some more. What is he, like 0-10 on 3rd and 5's all game? And what happened to the defense?
Oh, great another score. Since no one has respected Wisconsin all season, they'll be lucky to stay in the top 15.
Yes, Michigan State has definitely pressed the "beast button". That's what my friends and I call it when the computer decides to screw you every which way possible.

On reference to the Vikings short week and the Packers extra long one- "Only four teams in NFL history have faced the Vikings particular circumstances consecutive Monday and Sunday games on the road, the second against a team coming off its bye and, surprisingly, three of the four have won. Maybe thats a statistical anomaly, or maybe the edge should go to the Vikings."
So there.

For the record anytime a reciever has contact made with the it's a pushout, which means every sideline catch is a catch. and al harris can rape wideouts.

Yeah, they only owe the Vikes about 50 calls, so give the one ref call we get right back.
GB's DBs have been all over the Vikings all night. The Vikes touch the WR and it's a penalty. This is getting obsurd, and if you think I'm just whining your green tinted glasses are a little too opaque.

man, I'm 7-6 this week, with a couple of doozies for picks. What ever made me think to pick Cleveland of Pittsburgh, and why the crap did I pick Dallas to beat Philly? Oh yeah, it's cuz I'm crazy. Maybe I was thinking "Dallas has lost a lot this season, and Bill Parcells is getting pissed, maybe they'll start doing better now. Afterall, they can't lose forever." I hope it works, it is a home game for Dallas. If I win, I take sole possesion of first place in the "extended" page3 pick'em pool, or at least I will tell myself that. I am 83-60 at this point.

Amen to that.

Vikings 31 @ Packers 34

Randy Moss has more catches, yards, and touchdowns against the Packers than any other team. If there is any fairness left in the world he will be in uniform Sunday. But there isn't so we'll see what happens.Matt
The only way the Vikings lose this game, is if Spergeon Wynn shows up to play.Jon
Every day on this board is Packers vs. Vikings. I have nothing to add.Sarah
A WOo HOo! Please let the Pack win! The Pack should have an awesome second half, even though they have a pretty rough schedule. The Vikings always falter right about this time, so I am feeling pretty good. Green should have break out game and Walker should show them who the real 84 is. Sweet. Our defense needs to be solid, but with Grady in we should be A OK. No interceptions please Mr. Favre. Not that the Vikings have a good defense, but ya never can tell with da man. GO PACK GO!!!! This counts for the bragging rights til Xmas Eve.
