In my attempt to keep up in the standings, I must pick the teams that I think WILL want, not the teams I WANT to win. That said, I'm picking against the packers. Sara and I both, if we would have against the Packers in every game we would be tied for first. And lets be honest, the only reason I haven't picked against the Packers is because I WANT them to win, not because i THINK THEY WILL.
Gregg Jennings is still pretty solid. That's a bright spot.

Sorry, I have a sister Sara with no H, I truly apologize. Now that you mention it, I'd be curious to know the exact word count on the entire NutCan.com site at this point.

Also we started this during the Vikings 5-11 and 6-10 years and Matt, Jon, and I have never picked against them, as far as I know. The thing is though I always actually thought they had a shot at winning, and usually did have a shot til they shot themselves.

I could find out the count of the artcles, blogs, and comments pretty easily when I get home. It wouldn't count all the static words or those kinds of things though.

I'll assume you're just getting an early start on making excuses for the Viking's loss, but it should be noted that Detroit's defense is indeed terrible. I'm sure I'm not the only fantasy football player who has explicitly looked to see who Detroit is playing each week when looking for WR and QB to plug in. On one of my teams I wanted to play someone else but I just couldn't bench Williamson.
26th in total yards, 10th in rushing, (wait for it...) 30th in passing, and 28th in scoring.
And yes, Green Bay is as bad or worse in every one of those categories.

I should've started a drinking game with myself. Everytime I have to change the channel because they start to talk about TO on the pregame shows I should take a drink. I wouldn't even be able to type right now. DAMN!!!

A few Week 5 thoughts a little earlier than usual.
The Vikings are terrible in many ways and yet they do have a winning record. Probably because they're pretty good in many ways. But still, there's a lot of ugliness in their game. Particularly the whole offense. Except there was one bright part of the offense. Chester Taylor looked great.
Pat Williams, by the way, still a stud. If I was one to buy a Vikings jersey (and I'm not at this point in time), I would buy a Pat Williams jersey. Just for the record, I actually saw a girl wearing one today. If she wasn't 14 years old I might have proposed to her.
ON to nonVikings thoughts.
When will the C.Batch era begin?
The Packers aare inventing new ways for us to feel sorry for them right?
Did you see Mario Williams return that punt? Neither did I.
I thought it was true last week, but I'm emphatic about it now. The Bears are THE best team in the league. Of course now that I said that, I can think of a bunch of reasons why they're not. But I'll stick to it. For now.
Also, I'm going to mention what I was sure would have been mentioned by now, We have three people with perfect records this week with only one game to go. I know it was an abnormally "ON" week for everyone, but now we know that unless there is a tie or some other unforeseen outcome, someone will get the first perfect week in the history of the site. That's an occasion.
Also, since she was brought up earlier,I was trying to think of a funny, and appropriate, joke to make about Scott's sister, but I can't think of anything. Ok how about this, "I'd be curious to know the exact word count on Scott's sister"
See, it's so nonsensical that it's clean and yet it has humorous potential. Anyway, no one else can make a joke about it. I've earned the right.

has it really been about 3 or 4 full games that the Vikings have been without an offensive touchdown?

You know, I didnt even notice the records until just now. I noticed that everyone had good records, and that we may have picked up our first "random" person doing picks (any one know who that is?) Either way welcome to the show natejarnagin!

What possible reason is there that would make you say the Bears are not the best team in the league?
The Vikings offensive output this week was offensive.

Pop the corks, Jon, and tell the Dolphins to move over. Smell the sweet scent of perfection in the air. It's time to celebrate.

I thought it would be some momentous occasion, but something about this seems so lame.
I guess it's because I always waited for someone to get a perfect week while everyone else was getting 5 wrong. Clearly, however, this week was just a statistical aberration.

I never even noticed that Jeremy, Jon, and I had all the same Sunday picks. That's kind of an aberration by itself.

The funny thing is: Looking back over the games it's not like it was an "obvious" week. In fact the only "Lock" (Titans/Colts) was the closest game.
Not only that, I think the game in my mind that was right up there in the "this could go either way" group was the Jets@Jax game.

The Vikings only excuse for their poor offense is playing tough d's so far. Detriot's isn't terrible, but they need a couple touchdowns.Matt
The Vikings suck, but so do the Lions...Jon
The Vikings have no reason not to win this game. Except that the Lions offense might hit its stride while the Minnesota defense struggles and the Minnesota offense continues to be absolutely terrible even when focusing on the run, which was supposedly going to be our strong point.Sarah
The Vikings have shown they can't really win games. They're all flukes. However, the Lions suck.
