I'll blame it on parody, and the economy (which obviously boils down to being George W. Bush's fault).

don't blame anything on Favre. In the slightly modified words of Ronald Reagan, "Never speak ill about a former Packer."

I'm pretty sure Jeremy's comment on the Browns game is actually a jab at the Packers disguised as a critique of the Browns. Clever.

Maybe it's because nobody has anything worthwhile to say about any of the games, and that nobody even reads and/or cares what we do end up writing.

Agreed. I'm torn because it's such a corner stone of nutcan tradition, but would anyone be terribly upset, or even notice, if I didn't bother recreating these in the next nutcan revision.
(That is to say I'd still show the comments that are already made. Although, if I do that most of the work is done, since actually prompting for the text is the "easy" part. Hmm.)

I can't believe what's going on.
1) First Sarah calls Peyton Manning "Payton"**** and now she uses the incorrect version of their/they're/there And I'm sorry to put such a spotlight on a mistake that everyone makes, but it just seems so out of character. Is someone hacking her account? Plus, I'm pretty sure Sarah would shame any of the rest of us if we ever made such errors. (I love you Sarah, don't hate me.)
2) What's all this talk about not doing game comments? I don't care if no one reads them. We're doing them. I'll grant you that some of the games are difficult to write about every now and then, but if you can't think of 4 semi-original thoughts per week that are vaguely football related, then maybe we should all get outside more or get a new hobby, because our brains should be capable of such an exercise.
And as for their usefulness and whether people read them or not, I say this: If they don't read them, it's their loss. There's good information in there. Jeremy already predicted Rodgers' first three interceptions, and I was on the right track when I said the Chargers were gonna intercept Favre for three touchdowns, and those examples are just off the top of my head.
(As for lateness of picks and comments, I can't speak for the rest of you, but I do picks and comments on Friday/Saturday. That's just my thing. Sometimes Thursday if I feel like it and sometimes in the middle of the night before the games if I was out of town and/or sick like I've been the last two days. I'm not against people getting them done days in advance but I don't think it's necessary since it's not something people need to ruminate on -- the comments serve roughly the same purpose on Tuesday as they do just before kickoff. Though I guess they could spark discussions, but that has it's pros and cons too, since it always devolves into a Favre-based feud anyway. I guess, in general, I think we should aim to have them in at least 24 hours before gametime, just for good measure.)
****EDIT (10/13/2008): Sarah did not make the "Payton" mistake. Jon screwed this fact up and begs for forgiveness from Sarah for maligning her character.

Well the their/they're mistake is inexcusable, but where did I say Payton? Someone is probably hacking into my account since it has happened before. (See Favre/Farve fiasco).

42 yard pass interference call on the Lions when they didn't even touch the WR. I could be wrong, I was flipping between that and the Jets game, but that's what I heard the announcers say.

I don't understand the penalty. Shouldn't they have just made AZ use a time out then? They definitely wouldn't have made that FG from 57 yards.

I can't believe what's going on. 1) First Sarah calls Peyton Manning "Payton" and now she uses the incorrect version of their/they're/there And I'm sorry to put such a spotlight on a mistake that everyone makes, but it just seems so out of character. Is someone hacking her account? Plus, I'm pretty sure Sarah would shame any of the rest of us if we ever made such errors. (I love you Sarah, don't hate me.)

That was Carl who made the "Payton" reference. I demand a retraction!!! Ha. Gary Payton raised the flag at the Packer game. I am surprised the most by Payton's lack of action. What's the deal? I haven't been watching the Colts very closely, do they just suck?
Full apologies Sarah. Total MBL moment.
My fault. I knew that was out of character for you!
Sometimes I do that though, I read someone's comment and think someone else said it. But usually it happens with alex and PackOne. I must have just seen the packer logo and that was it. You should change yours to a Jets logo. Appropriate changes to the original comment have been made.
Attention all: I would like to publicly clear Sarah's name of ever misspelling Peyton Manning's name. She did not do it. She is an upstanding citizen in these respects.

42 yard pass interference call on the Lions when they didn't even touch the WR. I could be wrong, I was flipping between that and the Jets game, but that's what I heard the announcers say. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=281012016
There was minimal contact and I don't believe he would have had a chance to catch the ball anyways. THe Vikings did not deserve to win and got real lucky. There was a contraversial fumble call earlier on that went the Vikings way as well.
Childress really sucks. How about doing something creative with the offense, they basically only had one big offensive play all game. Extremly lucky to be 3-3.

"Green Bay’s offense was hardly anything to brag about, but Rodgers was efficient and moved the team in pivotal third- and fourth-quarter drives in which it took control, scoring 17 straight points in the win over the Seattle Seahawks. It was a must-win for the Packers, and Rodgers came through when necessary. His 14 total touchdowns (11 passing and three rushing) in six games are beyond everyone’s expectations this season."
"Javon Walker (five catches for 59 yards this season) is looking like one of the worst free agent signings in history. "

The Javon Walker signing was horrible from the second someone said he was talking to the Raiders about a contract.
Aaron Rodgers, steal of the draft!
I think the better question is why didn't AZ just take a timeout before Dallas snapped the ball?

I don't understand the penalty. Shouldn't they have just made AZ use a time out then? They definitely wouldn't have made that FG from 57 yards.

That's an awesome idea.

And thus begins the Jets era.

Emmit Smith and Ken Griffey Jr. I was 14 or 15 when Jr. hurt himself and started playing like a mortal, and I think Emmit hurt that quad around 96 or 97. That was the time- you are correct.

Nice work on the logos Jeremy. You could have left the Vikes one to save some time. No one really cares about that icon.

I guess you would have to have a 57-30 picks record to take the Browns. Or be a first week picker to take the Rams.

Lions 10 @ Vikings 12
Jeremy
The Vikings always find a way to play down to their opponents ability. A loss here is practically written in stone. Last week was a pathetic performance. Though, I believe that was the first time a receiver had 100 yards receiving in the Childress era.Matt
The Vikings are heavy favorites here, which means they're going to lose. Fire Brad Childress.Jon
Expect Minnesota fans to be holding their breath for about three hours on Sunday.Sarah
What a weird MNF game it was between the Saints and the Vikings. The Lions are pretty terrible, so I will have to pick the Vikings.
