Do you think Jerry Jones reacted out of anger? I'm not sure that giving the reigns to Garrett will change much. I'm hoping that he takes them to obedience school and T.E.A.M. (Together, Everyone Achieves More) Training! Not sure what to think.....

Since no Packers this week, here's a summary of the Big Ten forecast. If Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan St. all win out and end up with only 1 loss, Mich St. goes to the Rose Bowl. If Wisconsin, Ohio St. and Michigan St. all win out and end up with 1 loss, Wisconsin goes to the Rose Bowl. I'm not sure how all of that works out, but I'm pretty sure that's how it is working out from here.

Sarah - How do you use these things?

He probably thinks he would've looked dumb if he had just let things stay the same after the Packers debacle (woot!). However, this change isn't really going to make things better, at least I can't imagine it would. At this point, the season seems/looks lost, so I guess try Garrett on for size.

It's debatable how good the Packers are, at least if the implication is the last 2 weeks vaulted them back to "great in everyone's mind" status.
Lost in the ZOMG A SHUTOuT?! hoopla was that the Packers only scored 6 points in the game themselves, prior to the Jets boom or bust drive turning it over on downs for another 3. Then last week they played a Cowboys team that never got off the plane. They're 1-7 for a reason.
Jeremy screwed with this at 11/13/2010 2:34:42 am

Scott - If you aren't enough without it, you'll never be enough with it.
11/13/2010 @ 07:52:32 AM
the Packers only scored 6 points against the Jets? So, there's no mention of the fact that they were indeed playing the Jets, and that they allowed 0 points against that team? You may be right that these past two games don't vault them into "give them the NFC Title" level, but you can't understate a road shutout against a team like the Jets.

Jeremy - 1.21 Gigawatts!?!?
11/13/2010 @ 03:38:34 PM
How could I say they were playing the Jets and make "no mention" that they were playing the Jets?
Detroit just scored 20, and 9 is the least anyone has scored on the Jets, so yes, only.
I didn't say it was no feat what-so-ever, but people talk about that game like the packers ran away with it, just because it was a shutout, and that wasn't the case.

I think what at least the last two weeks has shown, and why people are starting to talk about the Packers as being better now, is that after all their injuries (and no one has been injured like the Packers this year if you count the number of opening day starters now listed on IR), they are finally starting to overcome that a little bit. The losses to the Redskins and the Dolphins could be seen as games where the backups simply weren't quite ready to play as starters yet, and it took a few games for them to get into that routine. Now, they have played three pretty good games in a row and the injury replacements are proving they can play. It's not like suddenly out of nowhere the pundits are saying Green Bay is a great team. They were picked by a lot of national sports people to go to the Super Bowl. But it does seem that they are playing the type of football that caused people to pick them in the first place. They have played games against worst teams than the Cowboys before and not won as handily.

You still didn't mention that they allowed 0 points to the Jets, which was their lowest point total of the season.
Also, the Packers scored the most points the Cowboys have allowed this season, and the Cowboys scored their lowest point total of the season.

Wow, so far 7-6 is the winning number. What a crazy week. And what a crazy end to the Jaguars-Texans game. The guy did exactly what you are coached to do on a hail mary; he knocked it down...right into the hands of some unwitting Jaguars receiver who had no idea what was coming. If my team had lost a game like that I would be brooding it all week if not longer.

Alex - Ignorance is bliss to those uneducated
11/14/2010 @ 10:55:44 PM
4-9 is pretty good right?
The whole knocking the ball down thing never made any sense to me anyway. The rule should really be don't tip the ball up. But if it's coming right at you, just catch it fool. Although the fantasy implications were all good for me on that play, so well done Houston.

Well, you're not supposed to try and catch it because that's how it gets tipped. Stationary hands go up, people get jostled around, etc, so you're supposed to get swat at it, but he threw it forward too much.

Alex - I was too weak to give in Too strong to lose
11/15/2010 @ 01:28:18 PM
Except in this case the pass came right to him and he wasn't being jostled. He didn't have to stick his hands up, just trap it against his body and if anything it will squirt through his arms and to the ground.
Good execution though by the Jags. I was just saying to someone on Sat. during a college game that I've seen number of hail marys recently where the ball did get tipped up somehow but all the receivers were bunched so tightly that they couldn't even react to the tip. You don't really want 6 guys in a 1 square yard area, you want one or at most 2 guys right in the middle and the other guys need to play for the ricochet.

The defender also sort of miss-timed his jump/swat. He hit the ball in such a way that it actually went up in the air instead of straight down. I don't think he was in position necessarily to make a sure catch.

This could be a very good game. I haven't seen the Falcons at all this year, but they seem to be doing pretty well. Yay for having the NFL Network (i guess).Matt
