Just some more proof that Falcons are going to the superbowl They are 10-2 and no one can stop them. Matt Ryan is having the best year of his short career but is getting the job done in the 4th quarter and they will not be stopped. Eagles are the only threat but the falcons can stop Vick just like the Bears.GO FALCONS!!

I doubt the Falcons would beat the Packers again if they met in the playoffs... and this is coming from a Lions fan.

NFL teams were a combined 4-0 in the team's first two games post-coach-firing this season. I'm picking the Broncos to match that trend.

Jeremy, dont worry, the Titans will make Manning look like he is back in his prime. The real question is..what happened to the titans? Complete collapse.

The Packers throwback uniforms were sort of cool. However, the big yellow circle with the number inside of it made it literally impossible to see the number from where we were sitting, no matter where the players were on the field. The back numbers had to meet the NFL regulation and were easier on the eyes.

Packers are overrated and yes Falcons would beat them in the playoffs for 2 reasons. 1. They are a better team and record proves it. 2. Falcons are going to have homefield advantage in the playoffs.

Maybe now with Rodgers being out, yes. That game 2 weeks ago was a croc. Should've challenged the non catch by Gonzalez, and that's the difference in that game.

Like just run the ball on 3rd and 1 instead of audibling to a pass and getting sacked. Getting too fancy for his own good.

Scott - No, I did not change your screen saver settings
12/12/2010 @ 04:50:30 PM
This game is on McCarthy. The only strength on the Lions entire team is their ability to stop the run, and they are trying to pound the ball on the ground. And, the illegal contact rule when the QB is outside the pocket seems like a farce. So if the illegal contact ends up with the receiver on the ground because he was tackled, is that not a penalty because the qb was out of the pocket? Also, was Rodgers even out of the pocket at the time the contact occurred? Jennings would have had to run 5 yards, and in the same time, Rodgers faked the hand off and then rolled out to his left. Unfortunately, all the announcers were interested in figuring out was whether or not Rodgers left the pocket at all.
Running the ball on 3rd and 1 is pretty much why the Packers suck on 3rd and short this year. Wow, such a promising year looks to be over. And if you could ever point to injuries as being the number 1 reason for a seems downfall, this would be it, and by a wide wide margin.

Idk, as I pointed out in response to your comment last week or the week before, they aren't actually as bad on 3rd and short as everybody seems to think they are, but because every seems to think they are that bad, including McCarthy, it's affecting the play calling too much.
Those annouceries were the worst.
Rodgers should have put more air under that pass, but Jennings should have caught it anyway. The entire offense played like zombies.

Well, they are 12th in the league in overall third down efficiency, which isn't very good necessarily.
Apparently the NFL sucks at providing splits for their stats. In baseball, you can find stats for any condition, but I cannot find any stats that break up 3rd downs by any sort of yardage. I remember seeing a stat a couple weeks ago that showed the Packers ranking near the bottom on third and short yardage plays. It was on TV and apparently is no where to be found online; that same stat showed how successful they were however at converting third and long yardage situations. However, until I find it or Alex finds it, Alex is no more justified in saying that the Packers are any good at third and short as I am in saying they are terrible.

Win probability graph for today's game: http://wp.advancednflstats.com/index.php?gameid1=2010121205
Flynn interception cost 10%, plus the long pass to C Johnson cost 10%. Collins crept up pre-snap and even at that point my Madden mind said single coverage outside, going deep, and then ta-da! WTF was that defensive play call all about?
Not quite it: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol
But it says they are 19th in adjusted line yards (whatever that is), although only 24th in power, yet 5th in stuffed. So no, they aren't great at running, but they aren't Seattle either, who are 30th in all of those.
Found the overall rate as of week 12, but doesn't split out pass vs run: http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/32630/need-a-yard-call-rams-not-seahawks
Sounds like maybe you can get the data here for free, but I'd rather go eat: http://www.armchairanalysis.com/index.html
This article says teams that in general teams should run more on 3rd and1: http://www.advancednflstats.com/2008/09/play-calling-on-3rd-and-short-part-3.html

both Lions and Packers need their starting QB's back... Both offenses looked horrible.. Packers with their 2nd string QB and Lions with their 3rd string QB.
On a side note... Are they going to paint the endzones at Ford Field Vikings with Vikings logos/colors?

I kind of like seeing Peyton fail, now if only Tom would get the hint and do the same. I just think the Titans are hurting a smidge more than the Colts. I suppose the final score will tell us if I'm right.Jon
I honestly don't know who will be the qb for the Titans. Kerry Collins? Is Collins back?Jeremy
