Well, at least the Packers get a nice dose of the Lions to drown their sorrows and overcome their shortcomings from the week before.

Before I forget to mention this for the 100th time, we should do the weekly waiver system in the fantasy league.

Pssshhh.... The Lions are going to beat up on the Packers this week and come away with their first road win in YEARS!
Reality Check... Thank god I have Aaron Rodgers on my fantasy team...
Best has turf toe and Stafford a separated shoulder, it's going to be a long season indeed.
I do however see us being a threat in a year or two, WATCH OUT!

Sunday and Monday blocked out: All un-owned players are placed on waivers at 9:55 am PT each Sunday with the claim period ending at 11:59 pm PT on Tuesday. This setting applies only to players who are free agents when games begin Sunday morning. All players dropped to waivers are subject to the league's normal waiver process.
Basically people who are watching games all day Sunday and sitting at a computer don't get the advantage of picking up backups 2 minutes after a starter blows out his knee. Everyone gets a chance to evaluate the weekend on Monday and Tuesday and then you put in waiver requests for anyone you want to pickup. My other leagues are setup this way, and I like it. It's a bit more "fair", unless you consider watching all the games with access to the internet part of the fantasy football competition.
Also to be clear, I was forgetting for the 100th time, not mentioning for the 100th time. Stupid brain is always putting words in the order wrong.

One could argue it does, but as a person who spends half his nfl sundays on the road, or watching one game, I won't complain.

Yes, but since you shot me down when I suggested this after week one, I'll look the other way at Jeremy usurping your power.

To be fair, I should say that Sarah didn't completely shoot down the idea when I suggested it. I think she told me to send an e-mail out or something to see what everybody thought. Since she most likely knew, however, that I would be too lazy to do so, I'm considering it a quasi pocket veto.

Huh, I guess Toon actually can catch the ball. Who knew

Scott - Get Up! Get outta here! Gone!
10/03/2010 @ 11:22:54 AM
I predict the Packers will win. But the Lions have a pretty good offensive line. I predict about 40 rushing yards from running backs in this game.
Scott screwed with this at 10/03/2010 11:27:21 am

Scott - Ma'am, can you make sure your computer is turned on?
10/03/2010 @ 03:07:02 PM
What a dominating Packer performance. Clearly a team set to make a big-time Super Bowl run.

Scott - On your mark...get set...Terrible!
10/03/2010 @ 03:08:18 PM
Darnit! I actually had the Browns picked to beat the Bengals until this morning. Go with your gut!

come to think of it, I don't think there has ever been a more depressing win in my memory. There was no devastating injury or anything like that. Most of the first half looked like "ok, this is the Packers that could go far in the playoffs". They were clicking on all cylinders, they scored a lot of points, they held the Lions to only 7 points and not too many yards. And then, with just over 6 minutes to go in the first half, the Lions went on a long sustained scoring drive. Then the Packers fumbled the kickoff with just a few seconds to go, then half-time, then the Lions took the 2nd half kickoff, followed by a Packers defensive touchdown, and then the Packer offense, having been on the sidelines for over an hour, came out and threw an interception on the sixth play of that drive. I'm trying to sugar coat this somehow, but the defense had been on the field for a very long time between half-way through the 2rd qtr and halfway through the 3rd qtr. The interception for a touchdown probably did as much to tire out the defense as the Lions next drive, because they probably needed the rest that an offensive drive would have provided.
Anyway, neither side of the ball looked good in the second half. The running game showed some life in the last drive of the game. Bob McGinn of JSOnline.com has rated every Packer game position by position for maybe 20 years now, handing out gameballs on a scale of 5 being the best and 0 being the worst. A Mike McCarthy coached team has no games where the overall team rating was a 5. This game started being what you could call an exceptional game, but alas, it was anything but. The opening line of his article in which he points this out states: Teams that have been underachieving for as long as the Green Bay Packers have don't reach the Super Bowl.

Sarah - How do you use these things?
10/04/2010 @ 05:42:59 PM
Wow, what a sucky week for picks. I was lucky enough to not watch the Packer game yesterday although I did get some unrequested snide play-by-play announcements from some Vikings fans I was with at the time.

Scott - No, I did not change your screen saver settings
10/05/2010 @ 10:55:58 AM
To be fair about the game, the Lions are clearly not as terrible as their record indicates. They've taken two playoff teams to the ropes already, and lost another game on a called back touchdown.

Lions 26 @ Packers 28
Jeremy
Oh what I wouldn't give, Lions.Sarah
I'll be @ Target Field. If the Packers get 20 penalties, they might only win by 2 TDs. Some radio analysts were giving the over/under on Packer rushing yards this Sunday. Packers running game is ranked 26th while Lions rush defense is ranked 31st or 32nd. They wanted to take the under on 50 yards. It's not like running games win championships anywa.Jon
Maybe I'll catch the pregame in the Town Ball Tavern.
