NFL 2011 Season Week 3 Picks

It's amazing what one man's absence can do to a team.

Sportscenter and all of those jokers have been going back and forth over what the real deal is here. Does Manning have some kind of magnetism, something that brings out the best in his players? Or does this year's flock just suck? And do the players minus Manning just suck that bad, and does Manning fill in the gaps for them, or does he inspire them?

Or have they just been lucky? Nobody knows, least of all me. Did you hear that he went to Europe to allegedly get stem cell treatments?

This has to be the longest win streak in Lion history. 6 games counting the end of last season!!! Hopefully they make it 7 and I didn't just curse them...

I made a bet with a Vikings fan on Sunday's game and he asked me to give him points. I think it's the first time as a Lions fan I've been asked to give someone points!!!

Isn't everyone just agreed that Manning is really good and the most important member of the team?

Maybe he's saying that because I, the reason NutCan spread beyond the 4 senior staffers in the first place, almost forgot to make my picks, meaning that I may not be putting NutCan on the top of my priority list anymore. That, and no one seems to make any comments from week to week anymore. The vikings suck, by the way.

On this page, how is one supposed to interpret the "your place" column? 1 / 7 (23 pickers) I think I get the first number means the place I took (I was in first place last week). But what does the 7 represent?

Jeremy created it, so he should answer. But I'm stupidly awake, so I'm going to answer even though I'm not sure. I hope I get it right.

I believe the second number (the 7 you referred to) is the number of different W/L records that resulted from that week's picks. For instance, say there are 11 total pickers. 3 people go (10-2) that week and 1 person goes (6-6) and 5 people go (4-8) and 2 go (1-11). There were 4 different records achieved, so your line for that week would be x / 4 (11 pickers).

Strangely, I think if we all picked the same team to win the Super Bowl, we'd all be 1/1 ( n pickers) no matter what happened. For that matter, it'd be that way if we all picked all of week 5 games the same way, but the odds of that aren't as good.

The question I have is would we all get the trophy icon and the loser* icon no matter what the outcome was for the game(s)?

*I've never approved of the worst-record icon and I choose not to acknowledge it by name.

Yes, that is what it does, and yes, everyone is first or last the week of the superbowl.

No the question was: Would we all get first AND last if we all picked the same team? Both icons next to each of us.
