So, does nutcan have a new revenue stream, or was there a spambot on the loose?

Yea this was funny. Alas, no monies going into the pot that is the Nutcan petty cash.

I'd just like to take a moment to appreciate all of you people we don't know in real life that keep coming back year after year. We're all kind of amazed by it.

I run this site and I still just about forget about setting up the picks every year, usually until someone else reminds me. That so many of you remember to check in annually to make your picks on some random rinky dink site that still has links to whatever the hell "Spurl" was at the bottom is pretty neat.

Thanks for the free entertainment. I joined this here shindig back when you were still ripping off ESPN's now defunct (or defunked, depending on your perspective) Page 2 in color scheme and most of their name. It's been an interesting ride.

Off to a great start, stupid Broncos.

Mental Floss has an article about the history of the name of each NFL franchise that includes this interesting fact about the Vikings that I wasn't aware of.

"The expansion franchise also became the first pro sports team to feature its home state, rather than a city, in the team name."

Pretty cool, if you ask me. I questioned it a bit, if only because the Twins actually started the same year, 1961, and begin their season earlier. However, I figured maybe the Vikings franchise began first, or was at least named first, which, as far as I can tell, seems to be the case. Also, doing a bit of research into this led me to find some other cool things, but that's maybe for another time and place.
